The time period that Nelson Mandela University is fully operational. This includes academic holidays, but excludes all weekends, public and Nelson Mandela University holidays, as well as the University shutdown period during December and January.

Description / Purpose

Assistance with the production of news articles, publications, annual reports, faculty reports, newsletters, and any other writing needs that are strategically aligned to the priorities of Nelson Mandela University.

Roles & responsibilities

Us:

  • Ascertain request for writing support
  • Source relevant writer/sub-editor
  • Offer idea of costs for specific project (R450 an hour) paid for by the client
  • Manage project/payment processes if deemed necessary with inclusion of a Service Level Agreement (SLA)

You:

  • Provide brief of writing/sub-editing needs
  • Provide supporting information and photographs for inclusion 
  • Provide all contact details as required
  • Provide a dedicated link to ensure all commitments are kept, including payment

Service level agreement

Hours of operation:
08:00 – 16:30 during the Administrative Year.

Response time:
24 hours to acknowledge request and set up briefing either via email or verbally

 

Cost

Depends on the job, but the going rate for specialist writing support is presently R450 an hour.   

 

Policies and guidelines

We are bound by and align to the Media Policy, our institutional identity guidelines and the writing style guide of the University. 

 

Comments

Communication and Marketing manages a team of external writers who are accredited service providers for the institution. As this is a limited resource, priority will be afforded to those whose work aligns with the strategic priorities of the University and who provide plentiful lead time for the task at hand.
